I must give this guy credit since he is brutally honest! I wonder when the last valve adjustment was done on that thing? Speaking of 220D's, there's a '72 220D for sale here in Portland. The guy got it in a package deal along with a '75 240D and a '79 300SD. He says that the 'SD started after it was "jumpered," and the other two turned over (probably didn't start since they have pull knobs for starting/fuel rack control). The guy wants $650, nice straight body with pearl white paint and new tires. It even has a manual sunroof which is appealing to me. I figure that it's definitely worth checking out since I've been lusting after Gump. Auto or manual really doesn't matter although the manual may end up with a bug or two less on the rear window. This one will most likely be a fun get around town car and a classic old timer too.
