In the recent discussions of leaking vacuum door lock systems, Larry said,

> You probably have a bad element somewhere - the rubber diaphragms are
> damaged moe often than the rubber or plastic hoses. The element
> diaphrams get torn and leak.

In my experience, however, it's not the diaphragms inside the actuator
that leak, but the "cover" that seals the actuating shaft to the plastic
body of the actuator. In this case, the leak is when you try to open the
doors.

I've attached photographs of tonight's repair of my second broken W123
door actuator (I now have a spare).

Photograph 1 shows a failed door actuator with a failed attempt at
repairing with a plastic sandwich bag.

Photograph 2 shows the bag of Bosch parts used for the repair (one for
each actuator). The Bosch part number is 3 340 522 025. These are
available online from Rock Auto (http://www.rockauto.com). Do a part
number search for that Bosch part number and you'll get a search result
that allows you to buy the item. They're $1.85 each and come in bags of 5.
I bought 3, so 2 were taken out before it was shipped. The shipping charge
is more than the part.

Photograph 3 shows the Bosch part. This was intended to seal an electrical
connection, with the wire coming out the small end.

Photograph 4 shows the repair in progress, with a pair of needle-nosed
pliers being used to hold the actuating shaft up so the seal can be forced
down over it.

Photograph 5 shows the finished repair and now functional door actuator.
The seal is a little longer than needed but seems to work just fine.
