i've had very good luck with AVG over the years on several machines, as
have several more computer-savvy computer support professionals i know,...
    i've had awful luck with what Norton (particularly Norton Internet
Security) has done to a couple of machines in the family, and don't use
it on anything any longer.

    have also used Avast! without complaint, and run Ad-Aware
occasionally to let it try to find anything that AVG might have missed;
it does occasionally, but not often.

    of course, i don't have any of these problems with my Mac, but i use
AVG on the Windows installation that i have in a Virtual Machine in
Fusion on the Mac,...

cheers!
e
