Bob, I would start amassing quantities of good, but cheap oil.? (Checker is having a sale tomorow on Pennzoil @99cents/qt, after rebate.? Next oil change, I would switch?to a 20W-50 oil as long as it starts easily.?
When you get down to using a quart every 250 miles, it will still pass smog, but it probably won't start so easy.? When my 240D was on it's deathbed, I kept a 2 1/2 gallon bulk oil container in the trunk.? fill the tank with diesel every 400 miles, and dump in an estimated 2 quarts of oil!? I knew it was done for when I had to glow the sucker when it was hot, even!? But it still passed smog!? I don't recall if the wind was blowing, tho. Marshall would say? Bob, In AZ, the limit for passenger diesels is 20% Opacity. That's a lot of smoke. And a little secret.... Plan on taking it for the emissions test when the wind is blowing!
