I can remember when 250 and 350 two strokes were considered reasonably quick.
(Suzuki X-6 and Hustler, Yamaha RD-250, RD-350, Kawasaki S-1 & S-2 triples)

These days you can get a Kawasaki Ninja 250 which will go 0-80 about
as quick as a 911SC, and get 50-65mpg. They finally updated the thing for
2008 and raised the list price to $3499. There are still a few 2007s out
there for under $3k. The 2007 looks like it was styled in 1988 (it was),
but it weighs about 30lb less than the '08. (~305lb vs ~335lb) My 1974 CB200
was 296lb with 2.4 gallons of fuel, so the baby Ninja is pretty light for
a watercooled bike with a fairing and almost twice the CB200's horsepower.

Mitch.
