That is true. Fred Thompson (from Tennessee) campaigned in his old red pickup 
for his Senate seat.  I think though, I could have a little newer buick and 
still not look like I was "putting on airs" or "driving some foreign kraut car."

If I ever do run, I hope they don't find out I have had 6 Benzes.

One of our local judges traded off his fancy Cadillac and bought a Grand Am 
when he ran for re-election.

I used to work for a Congressman in Missouri and he always rented the cheapest 
cars when he was back in the district. He had worked out some cheap arrangement 
with a local car rental agency.  He kept the Mercedes back in D.C.
