The first calc in our family was a Unitrex with memory, circa 1975,
$20. My first calc was a couple of years later, a Unitrex scientific
model (with RPN, no less), probably cost my dad $20-25. When I was
in high school, I moved up to a TI-57 programable, couldn't afford
the H-P 11C or 15C. I later got the 11C when it dropped down to
the $40 I paid for the TI-57. The HP 10C through 16C are still my
favorite calculators, reasonably small and incredibly tough. Picked
up a 15C for $20 in the early 90's, the 11C and 15C are still going
strong, I just have to put new batteries in them every 5-10 years.
