I reiterate what I have said many times before. Most of us are old enough to remember paying a fraction of what we currently pay for fuel. If prices would just stabilize for a bit folks would get used to it. The thing that scares everyone is that the price rises almost daily.
I paid $0.57 for an Imperial gallon in the late 60's. I am now paying $5.88 per Imperial Gallon. A year ago I was paying around $5.00 per gallon. Two years ago it was around $4.00 per gallon. Three years ago it was still about $4.00 per gallon. The last time it was under $3.00 per gallon was in April 2004. So, the bottom line is that I would get used to the price if it would just settle down and let me have a couple of years at this price instead of rising just about everytime I fill up. I filled at $1.329 for a liter a couple of weeks ago and the price on the sign posted out front is now $1.369. Diesel is $1.399. Wagon + trailer would be my pickup. I might even sell the CDI as I couldn't afford to go on road-trips anyway! If nothing else the amount of cars I have insured would be limited to two. Road trips would be nearly nonexistent. It would cost over $150 to see my parents on the coast! Don't even want to think about going to Phoenix to see family. I'm sure flying would be just as expensive though. What would you guys do?
