I tend to agree.  However, we're going to be shipping a release soon,
and I'd rather have the known cases fixed / hidden / whatever.  Can we
leave this work-around on the mesa_7_6_branch but remove it from master?
 If a proper fix is found on master we can back-port it to 7.6.
