Jim and List,
The best person to answer this question would be our Holbrook historical expert and fellow List member, Dave Andrews. I can't recall Dave ever mentioning the boy in any of our conversations.

Hi John and Jim,
I don't know who the boy who made that statement is. I believe I read that in O. Richard Norton's "Rock's From Space". I don't know what the source of the statement is either. Maybe he can enlighten us? Perhaps it was the son of Charles Von A(a)chen (it's spelled differently twice in the same article). In Warren Foote's article on the matter, he states that Von Achen and his son witnessed puffs of dusts rising from the desert floor when the stones landed. Below is a link to that article published in November 1912 in the American Journal of Science, Vol. XXIV.

To my knowledge, there are no more Von Achens in this area, but perhaps there are still relatives remaining? I'll do some inquiries and see what I can find out. Evidently Foote was doing some correspondence with this Von Achens during his investigations and acquisitions.

Below are two articles which appeared in the Holbrook Argus (courtesy of Garnett Franklin, "The History Lady") ;-)

Sorry, not much help here.
Best,
Dave
