Any ideas what is the advantage of this method and how
would one get rid of streptomycin later?
It used to be for pption of nucleic acids, in the days before polymin P.
Usually an Ammonium Sulphate step followed or one just through
everything left on say a phosphocellulose column (I was purifying RE's
or DNA modifying enzymes 30 years ago!) and the streptomycin passed
straight through.
