I have seen glycerol used at 2.5% or 5% for this purpose, though I'm not
sure if that was just "voodoo".
I believe you can use alcohols, also?
Finally, increasing alkalinity will probably affect Tm I'd say, though this
would obviously impact enzyme function for PCR or restriction.
