Can you comment on the physical reasoning for the METRo model only 
distinguishing between dry and wet observed road conditions, i.e. not being 
concerned about other road conditions ? Is this something that you consider 
could be improved or is it considered adequate within the scale of features 
that the model is intended to resolve ?

Yes, this is accurate.

Do you have a link to a web page that indicates what the SSI codes mean?

If you really want METRo to convert those 3 numbers (that come from the
input observation file) to "dry", we could easely to do that. But we
will only do that if you will be using it.
