Hello.
Can you please confirm that the latest version of METRo is NOT capable
of ingesting _observed_ solar radiation inputs into its forecast
algorithms? The documentation I can find only points to ingesting
forecast values of solar and IR flux in W/m^2
(http://documentation.wikia.com/wiki/Input_forecast_%28METRo%29) and I
am assuming that this is not the case for observational data.
Thanks.

Hi,
/
/I confirm that the observed solar flux data cannot be used for input in
METRo.
From the METRo paper:
« The road-condition forecast is done in three stages: initialization of
the road temperature profile using past observations, coupling of the
forecast with observations during the overlap period when the
meteorological forecast and the roadside observations are both
available, and the forecast itself.
The coupling stage allows for adjusting the radiative fluxes to local
conditions. »
This is why we cannot use fluxes in the input. They are modified to fit
the observed data with the forecasted data.

Miguel,
