Hello METRo Developers,

I've noticed that METRo really likes going for freezing rain on the road
surface conditions plot -- I'm in a part of the world where this is
quite rare. Is it possible that this means "rain on the roads that may
freeze (due to falling temperatures)" or does it specifically imply
freezing rain? I'm not sure how to interpret it.

Thanks much,

Hi Jonathan,

METRo forecast freezing rain when those 2 conditions are met:
1- Liquid precipitation (ie rain);
2- Surface temperature is under 0 degree Celsius.

If you rarely see freezing rain where you are and METRo forecast freezing rain nevertheless, there is probably an error in one of the forecasted weather element (air temperature, cloud cover, etc.).

Did you perform any kind of verification for the weather forecast vs the observation at the station?
