WinTopo is a Raster (Images) to Vector (Drawing)conversion tool. Its main function is to convertlinear/polyline features in rasterimages to correspondingvector drawing files.WinTopo is suitable for conversion of scanned TopographicMaps/Engineering Drawings images, saved into drawing files, and then open in CAD tools like AutoCAD, IntelliCAD and GISlike MapInfo Professional for modification. This is useful, especially when you need to edit portion of the image, andyet do not have the original drawing file.Eventhough WinTopo is Freeware (in fact, Charityware ismore accurate), its vectorisation engine is as good ascommercial released raster-to-vector products, if notbetter. Its algorithms are based on established imageprocessing techniques by gurus like Prof. Ching Y. Suen.Recently, Matthew J Heaton has also added polylinereduction and smooth operation during vectorisation thatproduce better vector polylines results. WinTopo alsoprovides a few feature-ba!
