Thirteen challengers will travel to 13 of India’s most haunted locations. The footage will be aired in the form of 13 episodes for 13 weeks on UTV Bindaas under the title *The Chair*, which the channel claims, is India’s first horror reality show. Singer-actor Meiyang Chang, who featured in the movie *Badmaash Company *and shows like *Indian Idol *(Sony) and *Extraaa Innings *(Set Max), will host the show. [image: Chang]According to a source from the channel, three-four episodes have already been shot outside the city at locations including Bhatinda, but with great difficulty, “The locations were found to be eerie during the first shoot. The remaining footage shot with the challengers and the team of psychiatrists couldn’t be filmed appropriately, though the crew was pretty sound.” *The Chair *goes on air on September 12. Four locations have been finalised so far — a palace in Santrampur, Gujarat; a hotel in Juhu, Mumbai; Patiala Mental Asylum and Tannary factory, Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh. Chang doesn’t believe in ghosts: “I accepted this show to travel to various popular haunted locations and watch the places come to life.” We wonder if he gets spooked easily. “I don’t,” Chang chuckles. “I could be wrong or might be proven right that it is one’s mind that plays funny, psychological games.” He recalls that when he came to Mumbai, he was told that Mukesh Mills in Colaba was haunted. “We were taken there once to film a promotional music video for *Indian Idol*. We were there till 4 am and nothing happened. I have even been told that the Aarey Dairy in Goregaon is creepy. I’d like to check it out,” Chang says. “I was told that somewhere close to Bangalore, there’s a Banshankari *dhaba *(restaurant) near a forest. An agricultural field separates them. Some ‘beings’ have been spotted in the night in white clothes in the field, running into the forest. I wanted to find out more.
