Vinay Dalvi Posted On Thursday, September 02, 2010 at 04:49:34 AM Fed up of the the number of times a nine-year-old girl goes missing from her house in Kurla, a neighbourhood suffering from the ripple effect of the Nehru Nagar rapes and murders, the police have issued a notice to her parents warning them to take care she doesn't stray again. They had earlier asked him to put tags on her dresses with their address and contact number. Mohammad Salim Sheikh, the father of the girl, who the police say is mentally disturbed and also deaf and mute, is frustrated with the situation and is considering sending her to an institution run by a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO). On Monday, the nine-year-old resident of New Mill Compound in Kurla (W) diappeared for the sixth time. The girl, who studies in a BMC school, was later found at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus. An officer from Kurla Police Station said, "She went missing early in morning. We formed teams and hunted for her. All nearby police stations were sent her description and photograph." The officer added, "By afternoon, the LTT railway police informed us that they had found her. We handed her back to her father, who works with a private firm in Lower Parel." Another officer from the Police Station said, "When she disappeared before this on July 15, we hunted for the victim throughout the night and finally found her at Tilak Nagar station. We had asked her father to make badges for every dress of hers with her address and contact number. Her father did not take our order seriously." The Kurla police has now served a notice to Mohammad, the father, under 149 of the Criminal Penal Code. Senior Inspector of Police, Kurla Police Station, Vijay Bagwe, said, "People are scared after the Nehru Nagar issue. So we had to start hunting for the girl immediately.
