*September 27th, 2010* *times news network* Lucknow: A 40-year-old man was hacked to death allegedly by his younger brother after he grew suspicious that the man had tried to outrage the modesty of his wife in a Banthara village on Tuesday. The police also see it an effort to remove the last hurdle coming in between the huge property and the accused.
The deceased who was said to be slightly mentally challenged was identified as Ramesh, a resident of Garhi Chunauti village under Banthra police station, while the accused were identified as Ramesh's younger brother Bhopal and his wife Anita. Bhopal had gone for some work to Transport Nagar on Monday evening and did not return home. Bhopal's mother Sundara was also not at home. Ramesh, who was living in the same house with his brother, knocked at the door when Anita was alone. Anita, according to the police, did not open the door. Failing which, Ramesh tried to climb the wall of the house, however, got injured. In the morning, when Bhopal came to the house, he saw injury marks on Ramesh's body and got suspicious. He asked Anita about Ramesh's behaviour, said the police. Even when Anita was replying to Bhopal's queries, Ramesh reportedly said out of anger that he had indeed tried to outrage her modesty. Infuriated over the same, Bhopal took an iron rod and hit at Ramesh on head and leg. Ramesh died on the spot because excessive bleeding said the police. Sundara informed the police about the incident and lodged an FIR against Bhopal and his wife Anita. The police swung into action and nabbed the two accused. The sources said that since both the brothers had a lot of property and there was no one after Ramesh, Bhopal might have thought that after removing him, he would become the sole owner of such a huge property.
