Also, those with skin diseases, mentally challenged are also staying along with the normal people. It would affect the health of normal people. There was a need for better medical care for the mentally challenged and bifurcation among healthy inmates and those who need of treatment. Otherwise, even healthy people would catch infection. He suggested the authorities to identify and trace addresses of the inmates belonging to outside State, as many number of inmates are from other States. At least, the officials can contact their counterparts and shift them to those States and such a step would help in decongesting the centre, he said. Nayak took the authorities to task for lack of hygiene in the halls where the inmates are dumped and provided with dirty bed sheets and beds. He also inspected the kitchen and preparation of food for the inmates. Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr C G Betsurmath, Backward Class and Minority Welfare Officer Mayadevi Galagali, Superintendent of the Centre Chandrappa Gokak and others were present. *Jail visit * Nayak also paid a surprise visit to the Central jail and heard the grievances of the jail inmates. He took exception to the over crowded jail. ‘ The Government should go for the expansion of the jail and also to fill up vacancies in the jail. Jail Chief Superintendent T H Lakshminarayan and others were present. Asked about the recent political developments in State, he said the people of the State are unable to understand to whom should they petition for their grievances.
