*Jaipur, Feb 16* : Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot again adopted a true Gandhian way to understand and solve problems of a mentally disturbed Dalit who had scolded and tried to rough-up with him during a public hearing at Chief Minister Residence here on Monday.
Despite being manhandled by problems-ridden Khima Ram Meghwal of Jodhpur, Mr Gehlot heard him patiently and ordered a high-level inquiry into his case on Monday itself. During his Jodhpur visit last evening, he suddenly reached at residence of Meghwal's wife in Rajiv Nagar slum to seek first hand briefing over the status and problems of the family. During interaction with Meghwal's wife and mother-in-law, the Chief Minister gathered that the family was ridden with utter poverty related problems and none of his seven children were attending schools. The economic condition and some other matters made Khima's life woeful, leading to a tiff between husband-wife and affected his mental health. Taking stock of the situation, the Chief Minister granted an ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 as immediate relief to the family and ordered free treatment of Khima Ram. Mr Gehlot also announced that the government would provide all facilities for free education to his children if they join schools. During public hearing on Monday, Khima Ram lost his cool, shouted loudly and tried to rough-up with the Chief Minister but the security staff grabbed him. He had told the Chief Minister that he was having problems with wife, facing threat from his in-laws' family and unable to get help from police despite repeated attempts.
