*22 Mar 2011* *Srinagar *: The UGC sponsored “Enabling Unit” of Degree College, Islamabad (Anantnag) organized a two-day awareness programme for the functionaries of higher education department regarding their attitude towards physically challenged students on March 18 and 19, in the college premises.
The programme, which was inaugurated by the district development commissioner, Kifayat Rizvi, encompassed five technical sessions. Each session included a speech by a resource person followed by the deliberations and discussion by participants. The speakers shared substantial information regarding the education and career opportunities available for the disabled in various government and non-government institutions. The teachers were impressed upon to make the physically challenged students aware about the welfare schemes and programmes undertaken by various government and non-government agencies.
