*14 March 2011* * LOHARDAGA*: A mother of three daughters was murdered on way to her home at Garadih village in Kairo from Nagjua railway station on Saturday night. Kairo police recovered the half-naked body from a field. Police suspect it to be a case of rape and murder.
Samiran Khatoon, the widow of Rajan Ansari who was returning from Ranchi on a local train, reached Nagjua station around 7:30pm and was walking back to her home at the village, about 3 km from the station. She followed the shortest route through the field where she was reportedly raped and stabbed to death, police said. The woman used to work as a cook in village schools. Two of her daughters are mentally ill. Following the incident, local people raised a protest at the murder site. The body could be sent for post-mortem after SDPO Ram Gulam Sharma assured the protesters of catching the culprits.
