LOHARDAGA*: A mother of three daughters was murdered on way to her home at
Garadih village in Kairo from Nagjua railway station on Saturday night.
Kairo police recovered the half-naked body from a field. Police suspect it
to be a case of rape and murder.

Samiran Khatoon, the widow of Rajan Ansari who was returning from Ranchi on
a local train, reached Nagjua station around 7:30pm and was walking back to
her home at the village, about 3 km from the station. She followed the
shortest route through the field where she was reportedly raped and stabbed
to death, police said. The woman used to work as a cook in village schools.
Two of her daughters are mentally ill.

Following the incident, local people raised a protest at the murder site.
The body could be sent for post-mortem after SDPO Ram Gulam Sharma assured
the protesters of catching the culprits. BDO David Balihar provided Rs 3,000
to the family of the deceased.
