*22 May 2011* * * *Siliguri *: A mentally challenged man hacked to death a police constable of the Matigara police station in Patharghata village last night. Police said the deranged man was chasing people with a sharp weapon in the village.
When locals informed the police the constable rushed to the area with some other policemen and tried to control the him. But the man hacked him to death. The constable's colleagues fled the spot. Superintendent of Police, Darjeeling, Devendra Prakash Singh and additional SP, Siliguri, Gaurav Sharma rushed to the spot. The assailant is absconding.
