JAIPUR : A 25-year-old hearing impaired man brutally killed his parents during
their sleep and attempted to set the house on fire in Bharatpur district's
Peepla village. The incident happened on Thursday night and the man was caught
by villagers who later handed him over to the police.
Police said the accused is also mentally challenged and committed the murders
in a fit of rage. The accused, identified as Vishnu Kumar, used a hand pump
handle to beat his parents to death, they said.
Vishnu's mother Chandrawati Devi and his father Vinod Kumar were sleeping when
he started hitting on the head of his mother with the iron pump handle.
"The noise woke up Vinod Kumar. Vinod tried to intervene, however, Vishnu
started beating him also. Both sustained serious injuries. Hearing cries for
help from Vinod, some neighbours rushed to their rescue," a police officer
said.
The villagers caught Vishnu while he was attempting to set the house on fire.
"He was in such a rage that the villagers had to tie him down using a rope to
control him. The elderly couple was rushed to a hospital but died while
undergoing treatment," the officer said.
The villagers handed Vishnu over to the police. "We have launched an
investigation to find out what made Vishnu so angry with his parents. The
villagers say that he is also mentally challenged," the officer added.
