KANPUR: A mentally-challenged minor girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging 
herself from the ceiling of her house at Ashangara's Mandi area here, police 
said today.

14-year-old Jyoti was alone at her home yesterday when she took the extreme 
step. Her mother Nanki Devi had gone to the market, police said. Jyoti, a Class 
X student, was suffering from some mental disorder due to which her Studies 
were getting affected. She was also under medication, said police.

The body has been sent for the post-mortem. Police is further investigating the 
issue.
