29-Apr-2014 THOOTHUKUDI : A 22-year-old mentally-challenged man was murdered by his neighbour after he allegedly made indecent gestures at the neighbourhood women, at Ilanthaikulam here on Monday. Police said that Kalimuthu, a resident of Melatheru in Ilanthaikulam, was a mentally-challenged man. On Monday, after consuming liquor, he picked up a quarrel with some women who were collecting water from a tap. He is then said to have flashed them. One of the women then complained about the incident to her husband Marimuthu (27), who reached the spot and picked up a quarrel with Kalimuthu. After his initial attempts to make Kalaimuthu leave the spot turned futile, Marimuthu allegedly stabbed him with an iron rod. Kalimuthu was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Vilathikulam police registered a case and arrested Marimuthu. Police said Kalimuthu used to flash women. According to Siva Sailam, a psychiatrist, Kalaimuthu had a disorder, which manifested only after his consuming liquor. "A person having such a disorder would turn violent after consuming liquor and his sexual behavior too would become violent." Such disorders start at a young age and aggravate if left unattended, the psychiatrist said, adding that most people would take offence at such behaviour than arranging for help for the affected person.
