20-May-2014 KOCHI: Mattanchery police on Monday arrested a man who was allegedly involved in cheating and sexually abusing a mentally unstable woman.The arrested has been identified as Sajayan, 33 of Kunnamkulam, Thrissur. According to the police, the culprit was arrested for sexual abuse and took `5 lakh from the woman."He took the money by mortgaging her two- storied house. The arrest was made on the basis of a complaint registered by the victim's mother. The accused cheated the 28- year-old woman by making a false promise of marriage. However, their marriage has not been registered so far," the police officials said. "The accused has cheated the victim and her mother by giving false promises. Moreover, this would have been the victim's second marriage. Her first husband had left her following her mental illness," the officials said. "Hence the victim believed Sajayan as he promised to look after her. He used to forcefully make her consume alcohol and raped her later," police said. The police also added that the victim's mother is also mentally unstable.
