Tirunelveli: A woman, stated to be mentally ill, was charred to death after she 
allegedly set herself ablaze and three of her family members suffered serious 
burn injuries in an attempt to save her near here on Monday, police said.
Selvarani, in her 40s, had opened the LPG gas cylinder and set herself ablaze 
in her house at Maharajah Nagar.
Police said the woman's husband, daughter and mother tried to save her and 
suffered burn injuries.
All the four were admitted to the Government Hospital at Palayamkottai where 
Selvarani died without responding to treatment, police added.
