19 May 2014 KOCHI : Three sisters locked themselves up inside their house with the body of their adopted daughter who died on Saturday owing to ailments, at Pachalam on Sunday. Neighbours and local people called the police after the sisters refused to let them in. The police took the body out by breaking the doors open, despite strong protest from the sisters. The police officials who arrived at the spot also had a rather difficult time in convincing the sisters to open the door. The deceased is Rajarajeshwari, 35. According to the police,the incident occurred at Mathai Manjooran Road near Pachalam. The sisters are Alli, 92,Shantha,82 and Baby,68. "The three women seemed to be leading rather reclusive lives for a long time. Among the three, Baby was mentally-challenged", the police officials who arrived at the spot, said. "The shocking incident came to light when the neighbours were informed by Shantha about the death of their adopted daughter," they said. The Ernakulam North police has registered a case of unnatural death.
