📌 *PENSION & DISABLED DEPENDENTS* Someone reached out regarding permanent disability certificate for schizophrenia so as to be eligible for central govt pension as a dependent after pensioner's death.
Apparently there are issues getting a permanent certificate for mental illness as a disability. the pension authorities apparently insist on permanent disability. Case in question : Central Govt employee died unexpectedly without putting things in place. She is survived only by her son whose life was derailed by schizophrenia from 2019. Has been under treatment from then but unable to hold down a job. Apparently the pension rules require a permanent disability certificate. There is lack of clarity on disability certification for psychosocial disability - apparently the process keeps changing and is not uniform. We need to freeze on one process otherwise people will keep adding iterations based on individual's whims. Dumping info here in this work in progress file.
