Just a reminder to everyone, on Wednesday, June 4th, 2003 6pm-8pm MHVLUG will be screening J.T.S. Moore's documentary on Linux, Revolution OS. REVOLUTION OS tells the inside story of the hackers who rebelled against the proprietary software model and Microsoft to create GNU/Linux and the Open Source movement. On June 1, 2001, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said "Linux is a cancer that attaches itself in an intellectual property sense to everything it touches." Microsoft fears GNU/Linux, and rightly so. GNU/Linux and the Open Source & Free Software movements arguably represent the greatest threat to Microsoft's way of life. Shot in cinemascope on 35mm film in Silicon Valley, REVOLUTION OS tracks down the key movers and shakers behind Linux, and finds out how and why Linux became such a potent threat. Due to the length of the film, we will be starting it promptly at 6:05 pm. Please ensure you arrive on time in order to not miss any of this great film. More information on the movie can be found at http://www.revolution-os.com/. The meeting will be at the Mid Hudson Valley Library System Auditorium in Poughkeepsie, New York. Directions can be found on the MHV Library System Website. The meeting is FREE and open to the public. Anyone interested in learning more about the group, or helping Linux is encouraged to attend.=20 More information can be found at http://mhvlug.org. As always, the meeting is free and open to the public. Bring a friend or two with you as well, and show them how much fun Linux can be. :) -Sean --=20 __________________________________________________________________ Sean Dague Mid-Hudson Valley sean at dague dot net Linux Users Group http://dague.net http://mhvlug.org There is no silver bullet.
