Depends.  When I installed Openbox, IIRC it showed up in the login menu as 
"KDE/Openbox" as well as "Openbox".  In other words, by default I was given 
the choice of either running it as a WM or as a WM under the KDE DE.  Perhaps 
some of the other choices are similar in that they may not require the user to 
reconfigure things manually to make the choice.
