I'm interested in hearing from the
group about how you have made optimal use of a widescreen monitor.

I bought a 23" LED monitor last December to replace a 17" CRT, and I use xfce as my desktop environment. What I've found helpful is the ability to have multiple windows open on each desktop, where before each would have taken up most of the screen by itself. For example, one of my "workspaces" has four terminal windows open simultaneously (one being a root terminal) -- all are 80x24, but there's no need for overlapping. Another workspace might be used for composing an email while simultaneously displaying a relevant post or web page. I don't have any formal strategy, but I do find myself using more windows in each workspace than before. HTH
