As some of you are aware, I have temporarily put my Android
learning/projects on hold.
I have a current need to master Python in under 6 months do to work related
needs.
I like most invested in "Learning Python" ( with 2nd ed. one of my fav.
programming books )
But the 4th ed. is almost 400 pages and a monster of a tome, still a very
good read.

What I came across is "Thinking Python"
http://shop.oreilly.com/product/0636920025696.do
It's shorter, more focused and about learning to program as much as it's
about Python.

But what I wanted to point out is what Allen Downey does is VERY
FOSS/Linux-ey
He published the book on the internet and you can download it, in PDF,
LaTeX source code or even HTML.

You can check out his other "Creative Commons" books at

This is a great resource for Computer teachers! both High School and
Collage level.
