And it's the sheer laziness and incompetence of modern companies that they can't fix these things otherwise, and consider us to be "consumers" rather than "customers", to be fleeced and slaughtered for their own convenience. ANd if any competitor comes along that makes a better product, they'll sue them out of existence so that they can *continue* to sell you worthless crap at an inflated price.
