Quite often charger cables either: a) Don't have data pins at all. That extra copper is expensive, you know!
b) Short the data pins together and contain other magic for indicating it's a high-current charger so that the phone goes into speed charging mode. I use an adapter cable from amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Mediabridge-USB-Charging-Adapter-A-Female/dp/B009W34XMM/) specifically for this purpose, because the phone charges many times faster. -m On Sat, Jul 12, 2014 at 07:52:02AM -0400, Wesley Peterson wrote: > I got a cheap USB cable at a discount store and it works fine for charging > my phone, but will not work to connect my phone to my laptop.
