I believe someone made a pseudo-named that just uses normal resolver
functions, but that approach has problems due to the lack of sufficient
information on things like expiration times through the resolver API.
A real named port is on Holger's list of future enhancements, but that
could take a while.

Yes. One could also have a simpler hack which just acts as a proxy
without cacheing anything. With a little smarts to filter the gratuitous
lookups from Windoze, that would offer most of the benefits of a real
named.
