I wonder, has anyone got SMTPd/SMTpost running on their Miami settup?
I tried to set the AmiTCP version of it up awhile back, using Miami
in place of AmiTCP (since programs that use AmiTCP are generally
supposed to be drop-in compatible with Miami), but gave up when I
couldn't get any noticable activity out of it.
What I'm primarily trying to do is collect all the incoming email from
my pop server account, and then have all the pieces of mail get placed
into the appropriate mailboxes in uumail:, which InetUtils explicitly
states it can do. (Well, actually, the readme for Bert Vortman's
mailer-deamon program says the above does.)
I'm currently using AmiPOP to collect the mail, with the fake
socket.library to make it work, but it has the serious disadvantage
that it insists on sticking all incoming mail into one local mailbox,
and then I have to use Filter to move everything out to the appropriate
mailboxes. Unfortunately, Filter doesn't work as well as I need it to,
because I can't get it to recognise ALL the filter-strings I've set.
And then I'm using the rather clever Arexx script uucp2smtp to deliver
my outgoing email. Trouble is, it intermittently LOSES the beginnings
of some of my mail, and then recreates the headings stuff from scratch,
but putting the wrong email address and leaving out the Subject: line.
It also has one or two other problems, which I won't go into here.
I really would prefer to drop those two programs, though, and just use
SMTPd and such.
