Unless you actually have a static IP (most dialups are dynamic),
congfiguring it as static might not work at all.

Unless your ISP actually wants you to use DHCP, which is unusual for PPP
connections, then it would be better to leave that off.

Sometimes "Verify DNS Servers" is more trouble than it's worth, so you
could try turning it off.

Does your connection work properly once it gets past the setup?  If not,
you might have a flow-control problem.  Also try disabling EOFMODE in case
it's one of the drivers that has EOFMODE bugs.
