That's an apples 'n oranges comparison. The "A" in ADSL means
"asymmetric", referring to the higher downstream than upstream bandwidth.
There are a whole bunch of DSL schemes, sometimes referred to collectively
as "xDSL". "DSL" is simply not specific, although it most commonly means
ADSL.

Yes, "T-DSL" is just a brand name.

I don't recall specific names, but I do recall that Holger put in
workarounds for a few bugs in T-DSL's PPPoE implementation. I've seen
posts claiming a higher version number for miamipppoe.device than what was
released with MiamiDx 1.0, so it's possible that the release version is
lacking some of these kludges. Someone with a working setup could help
there.
I've used MiamiDx successfully with both cable and DSL modems, though
these are both simple bridging setups that are nearly no-brainers to
configure. The one problem I've noticed is that the MiamiDx DHCP lease
renewal doesn't seem to work correctly with @Home, but since @Home isn't
really requiring DHCP yet it doesn't affect connectivity. I only noticed
it because of the unusual traffic from the retries.
