All communication cables need to be properly terminated (at both ends of
the line). UTP or STP cables are terminated within the device. BNC style
connections are terminated externally.
BNC style cabling:
TERM ---T--------T--------T----TERM
LAN LAN LAN
card card card
This applies, no matter how many LAN cards are in the cabling.
The terminators go at the ends of the line, where ever that may be.
Terminators can even be added at the "end" of a line that doesn't connect
to a computer (spare floating leads, for additional temporary,
connections, for instance).
But LAN cards *must* be *DIRECTLY* connected to a TEE piece.
