I got it to work with 'mail.optushome.com.au',
which is what their tech specifically warned me not to use!

And I've seen d/ls from my other ISP through the cable modem up to 62.5K now!

I also bought a longer UTP cable - a crossed one, which is what the tech
told me the supplied one was.  Of course it didn't work, and when we
compared the 2 in a cable tester at the shop, it turned out that the
original Optus cable was NOT crossed.

So both the problems were caused by incorrect info from the tech.

All this is aside - it flys........

Hard to get used to turning away from the machine and not worrying about
still being online and the meter's running....
