That doesn't answer the question of whether it's a relay or a server. The
"real" DNS server proivided by your ISP can't possibly know your local
names and IP addresses, so if Sygate is merely a relay you couldn't use
DNS for those (although you could set up Hosts entries on each machine on
the LAN to substitute for DNS). If Sygate is providing a full-fledged
DNS server it could handle those mappings.
