He might want to quote the Magnusson Law to the dealer. Mfg has to prove
aftermarket part caused a failure, but they automatically try to buffalo
the customer and cancel the warrantee.

Fuel pump failures on MSMs are a known problem, there probably is a
bulletin on it.

He needs to go higher up the food chain at the dealer, asking to talk to
the regional rep. If that doesn't work, call the customer complaint
line in the owner's manual.

I got this on my local Miata list. I told him to check out
Magnusson-Moss. Do any of you have any tips I can give to this guy to
get the dealer to realize they're smoking crack?

Does anyone know of a good place to purchase an
aftermarket fuel pump. Any ideas on which ones are good, and which ones
to stay away from?

I'm asking this because my MSM started getting harder to
start a couple weeks ago, and then threw a code "lean at idle." last
Friday.

I took it to King's Mazda, told them that I though it
was the fuel pump, and left it for them to look at.

They came back and said "Yes it's a defective fuel pump,
but your aftermarket intake MAY have contributed to it, so it's not
covered under warrenty. That will be $800 to replace."

They were pretty crappy about it too.

I'm never doing business there again.
