AFPRs need to be rebuilt periodically, like carburetors. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Larry Alster" <[email protected]> To: "'Chad J. Douglas'" <[email protected]>; "'Miata List Power'" <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, July 12, 2009 8:20 AM Subject: RE: JR supercharger issues
What year car?? Janice's 92 with the JR has started to exhibit a symptom that I'm not sure about. It's running a AFPR/Pierburg pump with 1.8 injectors and a Bipes. Car has been fine for years but lately and it is getting worst the car exhibits the following symptom. Idles fine Cruises fine Accelerates through boost fine with a gradual increase on the gas pedal Stumbles and then accelerates fine if you stomp the gas pedal to the floor from a cruise no boost condition Boost builds fine with no issues, reaches 6 psi boost okay, FP is running fine now that I changed the AFPR for one that actually worked. I am not really familiar with all the available JR goodies available, so I'm not sure what all is installed. The SC has the standard pulley and the car makes abou 5-7 pounds of boost. Behind the passenger seat is a brain box that has a vacuum line feeding it and a knob. I'm trying to identify this hardware so I can get some documentation. The car recently began hesitating and missing in boost. I found that the coil pack was loose and replaced the plugs and wires. The problem persists but is greatly reduced. I even went with a 0.035 spark plug gap when installing the new plugs and used a 5 heat range plug. Any ideas about what this hardware behind the seat is, or what to check next? _______________________________________________ Miatapower mailing list [email protected] http://list.miatapower.net/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/miatapower _______________________________________________ Miatapower mailing list [email protected] http://list.miatapower.net/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/miatapower _______________________________________________ Miatapower mailing list [email protected] http://list.miatapower.net/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/miatapower
