it was a freaking boy scout oath usurped by government. the "under god" was added later - to make a distinction between us and the "godless commies". there is little historical significance to this loyalty oath, other than it is explicitly unconstitutional to require anyone to say it. and it is only ambiguous if you believe in a certain set of gods. if you believe in NO GOD, it is not ambiguous at all. and for some very religious people, it is blasphemous to mention god's name or associate god with any country or politics, so not ambiguous there either. but then I suppose it's a good thing that god blesses america and curses our enemies. Personaly, I always figured true believers would rather be on gods side, than to have god on their side. I've always been kinda suspicious of people who tell me that god is on their side, being I always got picked last in phys ed. do you think god likes broccoli? dan
