The sum of the parts is greater than the sum of the whole, IF you can make
them that way. The individual in question is not capable of doing that,
and (as nice as I am) I'm not doing it for him. :) that's a lesson he gets
to learn all on his own. I'd be sad if I deprived him of learning that
doing this usually is more work than it's worth! :)

It's true. I fancy myself as able to turn a wrench, but I have a 96 I'm
removing everything from first because I figure it's worth more separately.
I'm betting that most potential buyers of my 96 would prefer it without the
"rough" suspension and "loud" intake and exhaust. Consequently I'm more
likely to sell those very parts for more to an enthusiast.

From the way you describe it, Wally, this sounds like a car of dodgy
quality kept by someone who doesn't know how to turn a wrench.  There's no
way you convince someone to pay more for a car given that, no matter what
mods are on it.  Mods NEVER bring more money on a car that's not cherry (I
really don't believe they're worth much period--you just never know how
 well they were implemented).

Pretty sad the state of resale on modified car (in general)...Casey's car
is the same way, it should be worth significantly more than that but..
what can you do, I guess.
