Not as pretty, but the FC is a whole lot more affordable. Hell, you won't find an FD shell for $6k, let alone anything that moves under it's own power!
Oh, there's proof that you are most certainly correct on the second part..
about 36 years of it, in fact. ;)

Wallyman,
I thought you were talking about an FD.
I also thought you were crazy.
There’s no proof I’m not correct on the second part yet. J

what I figured, so thanks to all of you for weighing in on it.
Pretty sad the state of resale on modified car (in general)..
you can pick up a beautiful RX7 with the LT1 for $6, Tein
coilovers, semi-built motor, beautiful car.. sad it isn't worth
more. Casey's car is the same way, it should be worth
significantly more than that but.. what can you do, I guess.

Did he keep the original shocks, springs, and exhaust manifold?
Assuming so, and that he's capable of doing the work himself,
the
right thing to do is remove the frame rails, header, and
shocks/springs, sell the car as a stock Miata with a rollbar.
Since
the mods add no value to the car as a whole, take them off and
sell
them seperately.
Doing the same with the clutch/FW is probably not worth the
time/effort and
cost of resurfacing, etc. Doing it with the roll bar is going
to
leave a bunch of unsightly holes in the car.
