I believe it is a ground problem to the link ECU. 

I vaguely recall that the link will run the fuel pump indefinitely when
the ECU grounds are removed.  It will result in the cylinders &
crankcase filling with gas.  There are several grounds that connect to
the chassis directly under the steering column and brake master
cylinder.  If they are removed, this could be they result.
